ALEXA Mini 4:3 License

The ALEXA Mini 4:3 License enables three new ProRes recording modes:

  • 4:3 2.8K (2880 x 2160) up to 50 fps
  • 2.39:1 2K Ana. (2048 x 858 de-squeezed from 2560 x 2145) up to 120 fps
  • HD Ana. (1920 x 1080 de-squeezed from 1920 x 2160) up to 120 fps

Recordings are possible in all currently supported ProRes flavors up to ProRes XQ.


In combination with the ALEXA Mini ARRIRAW License, the ALEXA Mini 4:3 License will also enable internal Open Gate recording in MXF/ARRIRAW. (Open Gate recording in ProRes will not be supported.)

The following Open Gate Recording modes will be supported:

  • Open Gate ARRIRAW (3424 x 2202) up to 30 fps
  • Open Gate ARRIRAW with 4:3 2.8K preview path (3424 x 2202 with crop to 2880 x 2160 in viewing path) up to 30 fps
  • Open Gate ARRIRAW with 2.39:1 2K Ana. preview path (3424 x 2202 with crop to 2560 x 2145 in viewing path) up to 30 fps
  • Open Gate ARRIRAW with HD Ana. preview path (3424 x 2202 with crop to 1920 x 2160 in viewing path) up to 30 fps
    • Please note that the ALEXA Mini 4:3 License requires SUP 4.0 or later.
